What Is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty Procedure

As a result, it will be necessary for a friend or family member to take you home and assist you with early recovery. Dr. RANJIT, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, MCh Plastic Surgery (AIIMS Delhi) most commonly performs an “open” rhinoplasty by making a small incision along the skin between the nostrils, known as the columella, as well as incisions hidden inside the nose. This provides access to the nasal cartilages and bones that are reshaped during surgery. Rhinoplasty Recovery & Results
After surgery, you will have a nasal cast over the nose to help keep the new shape.. A soft nasal dressing is placed inside the nose with antimicrobial ointment. The cast is removed one week following your surgery. After surgery, patients are advised to sleep with the head elevated to reduce swelling. Minor nasal drainage for the first few days is normal and can be managed with a gauze pad beneath the nose.
Many patients can return to their daily activities in about one week. While each case is unique, most patients can expect to feel an improvement in breathing about one month after surgery. Your results are seen immediately once your nasal cast and bandages are removed. Swelling along the nose and especially nasal tip will be evident early after surgery and greatly improves over the next several weeks. It often takes a full year for the result to become fully apparent.
